Cello
Perris has been learning the cello since he was 8 years old. His mother had suggested the violin, he'd thought about the double bass - they settled on a compromise. It has worked out OK, the cello being big enough to justify a lift to Sheffield Music Academy for 8.30 on Saturday mornings, but portable enough to require him to walk back on foot (it's not been that far!)
He loves the range of sounds and tones the cello can make and the wide variety of repertoire for the instrument. Alongside the piano, the cello has brought him many opportunities both academic (he's currently enjoying music theory and composition and studying for music A level) and social and even geographical - residentials here and abroad with the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra are the absolute highlights of his year!
He's very grateful for the invitation to play with SCO and hopes you enjoy this heart-aching and beautiful piece.
